Tim Shaddock ist ein australischer Fischer. Er ist 51 Jahre alt. Im April sind er und sein Hund Bella mit einem Boot von Mexiko aus losgefahren.

Shaddock will nach Französisch-Polynesien fahren. Einen Monat später beginnen die Probleme. Stürme beschädigen die Elektronik des Bootes. Der Mann weiß nicht, wo er ist und wohin er fahren soll. Die beiden bleiben zwei Monate lang auf See. Sie essen rohen Fisch. Sie trinken Regenwasser.

Schließlich fliegt ein Hubschrauber am Himmel. Der Pilot sieht das Boot. Der Mann und sein Hund sind in Sicherheit. Sie sind jetzt auf dem Weg nach Mexiko. Sie sind beide gesund.
