Um das Jahr 1100 wachsen in einem Wald in England Eichen. Die Eichen wachsen weitere 920 Jahre und überleben zwei Weltkriege, einen Bürgerkrieg und das Mittelalter. Das sind die ältesten Eichen in Europa.

Niemand wusste, dass diese Bäume so alt sind, bis ein Botaniker sie untersuchen wollte. Anhand des Umfangs der Bäume erfuhren die Menschen, wie alt sie waren. Die Bäume sind etwas Besonderes, weil sie so alt und so zahlreich sind.
