Die indische Präsidentin Droupadi Murmu bezeichnete sich bei einem G20-Gipfel-Dinner als “Präsidentin von Bharat”.

Das überraschte die Menschen und ließ sie sich fragen, ob die Regierung den Namen Indiens ändern wollte. Indien hat zwei Namen: Indien und Bharat. Die Regierung mag Hindi und ändert einige alte Namen in neue Namen um. Sowohl Indien als auch Bharat sind sehr alte Namen. Manche Leute glauben, dass die Briten Indien seinen Namen gaben, aber Historiker sagen, dass diese Namen noch älter sind als das.

Um Indiens Namen in Bharat zu ändern, muss die Verfassung geändert werden. Das Parlament wird vielleicht auf der nächsten großen Sitzung darüber diskutieren.
