Das FBI hat Thomas Matthew Crooks als den Mann benannt, der versucht hat, den ehemaligen US-Präsidenten Donald Trump zu töten.
Der Vorfall ereignete sich bei einer Kundgebung in Pennsylvania, bei der Trump eine Rede hielt. Es fielen Schüsse und Trump begann aus seinem rechten Ohr zu bluten, wurde aber nicht ernsthaft verletzt. Eine Person starb und zwei weitere wurden schwer verletzt. Der Secret Service tötete den 20-jährigen Crooks. Das FBI behandelt den Vorfall als Attentat. Präsident Biden bezeichnete den Angriff als krank und sagte, dass es in Amerika keinen Platz für solche Dinge gibt.
Das FBI und die örtliche Polizei untersuchen das Motiv von Crooks. Trump hat seine Pläne nicht geändert und will am Montag an der Republican National Convention teilnehmen.
