Am Dienstag wird Finnland Mitglied der NATO. Die NATO ist ein Militärbündnis. 31 Länder sind in der NATO. Wenn jemand ein Mitglied der NATO angreift, ist das ein Angriff auf alle.

Wenn Russland die Ukraine im Februar 2022 angreift, fühlt sich Finnland nicht sicher. Finnland ist Russlands Nachbar. Finnland macht sich Sorgen, dass Russland auch es angreifen könnte. Wenn Finnland der NATO beitritt, verdoppelt sich die Grenze der NATO zu Russland. Jetzt möchte Finnland, dass auch Schweden der NATO beitritt. Schweden ist ein guter Nachbar von Finnland.

Die Reaktion Russlands ist nicht gut. Russische Beamte sagen, dass sie mehr Soldaten an die nordwestliche Grenze des Landes bringen werden. Das kann den Krieg in der Ukraine noch schlimmer machen.
