New York Sumo Club – Ebene 1

Sumo ist eine Sportart aus Japan. Auch in New York wird jetzt Sumo praktiziert. Der New York Sumo Club befindet sich in Manhattan.

Der Club hat vor drei Jahren mit zwei Leuten angefangen. Jetzt kommen viele Leute zum Training. Sie benutzen eine Matte aus Japan, wie beim echten Sumo. Der Leiter, Oscar, will einen Platz für alle. Männer, Frauen, Junge und Alte können mitmachen.

Die Leute tragen einen Gürtel, der Mawashi genannt wird. Die Leute können die Gürtel färben, wie sie wollen. Das zeigt Stil und Spaß. Der Club veranstaltet ein großes Event namens Empire Cup in Brooklyn. Etwa 60 Kämpfer nehmen daran teil, und viele Leute schauen zu. Der Verein möchte mehr Mitglieder und will, dass Sumo in New York wächst.
