Papst Franziskus besucht Osttimor am 9. September.

Es ist das erste Mal, dass ein Papst das Land besucht, seit es frei von Indonesien ist. Die Menschen in der Hauptstadt Dili sind glücklich. Aber manche sind auch wütend. Arbeiter bauen einen neuen Altar für den Papst. Er kostet etwa 1 Million Dollar. Viele Familien müssen deshalb ihre Häuser verlassen. Diese Menschen wissen nicht, wo sie als nächstes wohnen werden. Die Kirche sagt, dass sie nur den Altar gebaut hat. Aber die Regierung fordert die Menschen auf, umzuziehen.

Osttimor hat eine enge Geschichte mit der katholischen Kirche. Im Jahr 1989 besuchte Papst Johannes Paul II. das Land. Damals gehörte das Land noch zu Indonesien.
