Mehrere Unternehmen arbeiten an einem neuen Projekt für eine Raumstation. Dabei handelt es sich aber nicht um die üblichen Orte, die wir mit der Raumfahrt verbinden, wie Florida oder Houston. Sierra Space ist ein Unternehmen mit Sitz in Pittsburgh, Vereinigte Staaten. Es arbeitet an einem Projekt für eine Raumstation, die ganz anders aussehen wird als die aktuelle Internationale Raumstation. Sie wird geräumiger sein, und das Unternehmen will sie nicht nur für Astronauten und reiche Leute zugänglich machen. Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler werden dort forschen, um z. B. bessere Materialien oder Medikamente zu entwickeln.

Das Unternehmen ist davon überzeugt, dass sein Projekt neue Arbeitsplätze für die Menschen in Pittsburgh schaffen wird, wo die Stahlindustrie in der Vergangenheit die Haupteinnahmequelle darstellte.
