Nashörner sind zurück im Kongo – Stufe 2

16 südliche Breitmaulnashörner sind im Garamba-Nationalpark in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo angekommen, um das ökologische Gleichgewicht des Parks wiederherzustellen.

Die Nashörner kamen aus einem privaten Wildreservat in Südafrika und wurden in einer gemeinsamen Aktion von mehreren Organisationen aufgenommen. Die Barrick Gold Corporation hat das Projekt gesponsert. Der Plan ist, die Zahl der Breitmaulnashörner in Afrika zu erhöhen und neue Zuchtpopulationen in sicheren Gebieten zu gründen.

Die erfolgreiche Umsiedlung in den Garamba-Nationalpark ist ein wichtiger Schritt zum Schutz der Breitmaulnashörner. Breitmaulnashörner sind vom Aussterben bedrohte Tiere, die Hilfe brauchen, um zu überleben.
