Die indische Präsidentin Droupadi Murmu nennt sich selbst die Präsidentin von Bharat. Viele Menschen fragen sich, ob Indien plant, seinen Namen zu ändern.

Normalerweise nennen Beamte den Namen Indien auf Englisch und Bharat auf Hindi. Es ist also nicht üblich, dass der Präsident den Namen Bharat auf Englisch benutzt. Manche Leute sagen, dass der Name Indien aus der Zeit stammt, als Indien eine britische Kolonie war. Aber Experten sagen, dass der Name viel älter ist.

Das Parlament könnte die Änderung auf seiner nächsten Sitzung diskutieren. Um den Namen zu ändern, müsste die indische Verfassung geändert werden.
