Sie verliert durch den Brexit bis zu 100 Millionen Pfund pro Jahr. Die Insel hat auch die Vergünstigungen der Europäischen Union verloren und ist nun auf weniger hilfreiche Unterstützung aus Westminster angewiesen.
Die britische Regierung hat neue Märkte versprochen, aber die Menschen auf Skye haben davon nichts mitbekommen. Es ist schwer, Arbeitskräfte zu finden, und das wirkt sich auf den Tourismus und das Baugewerbe aus. Die Einheimischen sagen, dass der Brexit alles teurer und schwieriger gemacht hat. Einige hoffen, dass Schottland unabhängig wird und der EU beitritt.
