Robert Fico, ein pro-russischer Politiker, hat die slowakischen Wahlen am vergangenen Wochenende gewonnen. Seine Partei SMER-SSD erhielt fast 23% der Stimmen und er wird versuchen, eine neue Regierung zu bilden.

Fico ist gegen die militärische Unterstützung der EU für die Ukraine, genau wie Ungarns Premierminister Viktor Orban. Fico will zwar humanitäre Hilfe in die Ukraine schicken, aber keine Waffen liefern. Die Slowakei ist Mitglied der NATO, aber viele Menschen sympathisieren mit der Meinung Russlands, dass der Westen Moskau schaden will.

Diese Wahl bedeutet eine Abkehr vom politischen Liberalismus in Mitteleuropa, ähnlich wie die Politik von Ungarns Viktor Orban. Fico will auch Grenzkontrollen zu Ungarn einführen, um die illegale Migration zu stoppen.
